On her wedding day, JOHN EDWARDS’ daughter got the ultimate revenge on his mistress!

Cate Edwards, 29, banned Rielle Hunter from her Oct. 22 nuptials to college sweetheart Trevor Upham, but allowed her father’s 3 1/2-year-old love child to attend, say insiders.

“John had hoped that his ‘two’ families could come together for this happy event,” a family source told The ENQUIRER.

“But the last thing Cate wanted on her wedding day was to see her father’s mistress there – and she made it very clear to him that Rielle was not welcome.

“Cate had no objections to his illegitimate daughter with Rielle, Quinn, being there.

“She believes Quinn is just an innocent child caught up in this tragedy, but she still hasn’t forgiven Rielle for wrecking her family and destroying her mother.”

A still grieving Cate honored her mother Elizabeth – who lost her brave battle with breast cancer last Dec. 7 at age 61 – in every way possible at her wedding.

“At the ceremony, a special candle was lit in Elizabeth’s honor – and Cate made sure her mom’s favorite flowers, foods and poems were a part of her big day,” the source divulged.

“Before she passed, Cate told her mother that she would be there in spirit walking her down the aisle along with her father.”

The bride’s sister Emma Claire, 13, was her maid of honor and  brother Jack, 11, was a groomsman. Brother Wade, who died in a car crash in 1996 at age 16, was also honored.

“Cate also vowed to have a baby as another tribute to her late mom,” said the source.

“A new baby will also take the focus off John’s love child.”

The ENQUIRER exclusively revealed the disgraced presidential candidate’s extramarital affair and love child in a series of blockbuster reports dating back to 2007.

In January, Edwards goes on trial on federal charges of illegally using campaign funds to cover up the affair.

If convicted, he could go to jail for 30 years.
