KENNEDY CLAN mainstay, Peace Corps founder and Dem VP contender R. SARGENT SHRIVER has died at 95.

As The ENQUIRER reported yesterday Shriver was in critical condition at Suburban Hospital in Bethesda, Maryland

Shriver had suffered from Alzheimer’s disease.

During the Kennedy administration Shriver was the first director of the Peace Corps which was created during JFK‘s brief tenure.

His wife, Eunice Kennedy Shriver, who was JFK, Bobby and Teddy‘s sister, died in 2009 month’s prior to Teddy’s passing. 

Their daughter is  former NBC correspondent Maria Shriver who is married to former Governor of California, Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Anthony Kennedy Shriver, confirmed his father’s death to AP, saying his father is "with my mom now."

President Barack Obama called Shriver one of the "brightest lights of the greatest generation."

"He was a man of giant love, energy, enthusiasm, and commitment," the Shriver family said in a statement.

"He lived to make the world a more joyful, faithful, and compassionate place. He centered everything on his faith and his family. He worked on stages both large and small but in the end, he will be best known for his love of others. "
