JESSICA SIMPSON’s new best friend was once her childhood idol. The “Dukes of Hazzard” beauty has turned to CHER for friendship and support as she deals with her divorce from estranged hubby NICK LACHEY.
Jessica, 25, and Cher, 60, first met at a party in 2004, and they recently crossed paths again at another Hollywood function, say pals. “Cher immediately invited Jessica for lunch,” an insider told The ENQUIRER.
“She really listens to Jess, and she’s given her sound advice to help get through her divorce from Nick.”
The insider says the newfound friends have been out on the town recently, enjoying shopping trips to Beverly Hills and lunching in Cher’s Malibu neighborhood.
“It blows Jessica’s mind that she’s hanging out with her childhood idol,” said the insider. “For a little girl who grew up in Texas, seeing Cher up close is positively awesome.
“She told a pal: ‘I love hanging with Cher. She’s so funny and worldly at the same time. I feel so blessed.'”
