Dreamgirls star Jennifer Hudson‘s mother shot and killed in Chicago home.

Police confirmed Hudson’s mother, Darnell Hudson Donerson, 57, is dead. The other victim has been IDed as Jennifer Hudson’s brother, Jason S. Hudson, 29.

The bodies were discovered at at 2:44 PM Friday at 7019 S. Yale in Chicago’s Englewood neighborhood.

First responders arrived and summoned police to the crime scene.  Police spokeswoman Monique Bond said the double murders appear to be the result of domestic abuse but declined to elaborate.

UPDATE 10:21 PM 10/24:
  A police APB issued for Hudson’s 7-year-old nephew Julian King who may have been abducted by William Balfour.   Balfour listed Hudson’s mother’s address as his residence within the last year.  Illinois Department of Corrections says Balfour is currently out on parole after serving time for attempted murder.

UPDATE: 4:02 AM 10/25 Suspect William Balfour, has been taken into custody. Boy still missing.  Suspect refusing to cooperate, according to Chicago TV.

Reports: an argument over a car being sold sparked the conflagration. The missing boy’s mother works as a bus driver and has not been seen.

Suspect Balfour was married to Hudson’s sister Julia, the boy’s  mother, say relatives.  ID of boy’s father is as yet unconfirmed but suspected to be Balfour.

THE FBI JOINS SEARCH…as Julian may have been abducted across state lines.

Sadly the tragedy hits Hudson as her song "Spotlight" is No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop charts.  She is currently starring in the hit movie The Secret Life of Bees and won an Academy Award  for Dreamgirls last year.

"There is an ongoing investigation concerning the deaths of Jennifer Hudson’s mother, Darnell Donerson, and her brother, Jason Hudson," Hudson’s personal publicist, Lisa Kasteler said in a statement.

"No further comment will be made and the family has asked that their privacy be respected at this difficult time.".
