JACK LORD’s SPIRIT HAUNTS 5-O

description

The spirit of iconic JACK LORD’ original STEVE McGARRET on HAWAII FIVE-O will be making an appearance on the new hit CBS series in tonight’s episode, producers said.

Think of it as a metaphor or perhaps just wishful thinking but Lord who created the non-nonsense TV tough guy  returns in the guise of his  black 1974 Mercury Marquis that’s still running after more than 200,000 miles.

The sleek muscle car was Lord’s kick- ass ride when he starred battling crime lord Wo Fat in the original series.

After the show ended in 1980, he gave the car to his stunt double, John Nordlum.

Yet, if you’ve been watching the new Five-O, the Lord-mobile made an appearance in the shows first ep sitting in the garage ostensibly belonging to Alex O’Loughlin as Steve McGarret.
Symbolically, it was his murdered dad’s car.

Now Jack’s car is back in tonight’s ep that also features special guest stars Nick Lachey and fiancée Vanessa Minnillo in a very special Valentine’s Day episode.

The car’s owner, Nordlum, gave the production crew a few tips about getting the monster’s 460-cubic-inch V-8 to start.

"It was a cute scene," he said. "It looks really good."

When the new Five-O borrowed the car last spring for the pilot, Nordlum was told it would be used more often.

"They had some shows in mind, but they wanted to get the series established first," he said.

"It’s beginning to materialize now, and I am very happy with that."
