Sources say JULIA ROBERTS saved GEORGE CLOONEY’s relationship with GF STACY KEIBLER by tongue lashing the perpetual playboy.

The 51-year-old serial romancer got cold feet after he and Stacy celebrated their first anniversary as a couple – and that’s when the “Pretty Woman” superstar rushed to the rescue.

“When Julia heard that George was about to end the relationship before it got too serious, she told him Stacy’s a great girl, that he should latch on to her, and that he was too old to keep playing the field,” revealed the insider.

George and Julia – who is married to cameraman Danny Moder – have been close pals since co-starring in “Ocean’s Eleven” more than a decade ago. Recently they were together again in Bartlesville, Okla., where George is producing “August: Osage County” with an all-star cast including Julia.

Rumors began flying that George was about to dump 33-year-old Stacy, and the whispers burst into print when the former World Wrestling Entertainment beauty attended New York Fashion Week by herself in September.

But before George could act, Julia gave the skirt-chasing actor her pep talk, telling him that marriage and children are “more important than all the movies and Oscars,” revealed the insider.

“She even told George he should marry Stacy and start a family.”

The heartfelt words from the mother of three seemed to work like magic, according to the source.

On Oct. 4, after several weeks apart, George and Stacy stepped out together on the red carpet at the Beverly Hills premiere of Ben Affleck’s new political thriller, “Argo,” which Clooney produced.

“George agreed that although he and Stacy had a rough spot, they could still make it work,” said the source. “But he still wasn’t promising anything about getting married!”
