INSIDE THE MICHAEL DOUGLAS MELTDOWN IN THE UK

description

MICHAEL DOUGLAS and CATHERINE ZETA-JONES snapped under the pressure of his life-or-death cancer battle – going berserk recently on the streets of London – and here’s how it happened!

The beloved Oscar-winner – with a badly bloodshot eye and a raw, irritated lower lip – suffered a bizarre public meltdown while in England to accept an award with his wife from Prince Charles.

The couple had finished dinner at celeb chef Gordon Ramsay’s Claridge’s hotel restaurant on Feb. 25 and returned to their hotel by limousine when a fracas broke out, eyewitnesses say.

"As they were getting out of their limo, flashes started going off. They’d made their way inside when Catherine freaked out," photographer Anthony Clark, who observed the incident, told The ENQUIRER.

"She suddenly started yelling and holding her chin, as if she’d been socked in the jaw.

"When somebody yelled, ‘Who did it?’ it seemed as if Catherine pointed to a photographer. That’s when, despite his weakened condition, Michael jumped to his wife’s defense.

"With teeth clenched in anger and veins bulging on his forehead, he seemed to lose control.

"Michael pointed a finger at one guy and snarled, ‘It was you, (bleep)!’" Clark said. "He grabbed the guy under the arm and tried to push him."

A security guard finally broke up the skirmish – and no one was arrested – but the incident is startling proof of the terrible emotional toll Michael’s health crisis has taken on the usually cool-headed couple.

"I think Catherine was devastated by the incident," a source said.

"She knows that Michael isn’t supposed to get upset or exert himself. To see him get into a nasty fight in his condition, it left her in tears."
