Jones, 25, from Pine Hill, N.J., Tweeted he was off on the Fox singing competition.
"Awww I will no longer b on the show," he wrote.
The Tweet and Jones' official "Idol" Twitter account were then suddenly deleted.
Reportedly, producers discovered that Jones had been arrested twice and had outstanding warrants.
One of the reputed incidents reportedly involved violence, worrying producers.
Jones also reportedly gave cops fake names to cover alleged misdeeds.
Previously, "Idol" contestants had been disqualified when their lurid past became known.
In 2003, Corey Clark was booted for concealing his arrest record and Frenchie Davis was axed for her XXX website appearance.
