The Season 7 champ of “The Voice,” Craig Wayne Boyd, 35, nearly died in childbirth – and that’s just the first of his many lifelong struggles!

The Texas-born singer from Mesquite revealed his stunning secret after he advanced to the Top 12 on the NBC show.

“There is one thing the fans don’t know yet – and I haven’t really talked a lot about it – but I was born with both my lungs collapsed,” Craig confided. “I was the biggest thing in the ICU (intensive care unit)!

“I’m thankful every day that I can sing.” Craig, who’s the father of a young son, Jaxson, 2, has struggled to get to the top.

He worked as a valet car parker and a staff songwriter for EMI Music while trying to launch his own career in Nashville.

Things were so tough that the hunky singer was ready to throw in the towel.

“A little more than a year ago, I was sitting in a pick-up outside of a club after I had played to basically no one. I said to my drummer, ‘I may have to quit because I’m losing my house … I lost my pick-up,’” Craig recalled.

But his bandmate convinced him to carry on, and now he’s the fourth “Voice” winner from Blake Shelton’s Team!
