Distraught Reese Witherspoon fled to her family in Tennessee after filing for divorce — while her soon-to-be ex-hubby Ryan Phillippe partied hearty!
Sources tell The ENQUIRER that Reese was “angry but heartbroken” over the collapse of their seven-year marriage, but Ryan kicked up his heels in Miami and Costa Rica.
“Reese has been a mess since she filed for divorce,” a close source told The ENQUIRER.
“She fled to her family in Nashville to be protected. She’s been calling friends and spending hours on the phone pouring out her heart.
“Ryan, on the other hand, hasn’t seemed to skip a beat. After Reese dumped him, he went down to Miami on a party spree and then ended up in Costa Rica.”
Nine days after announcing their separation, 30-year-old Reese filed for divorce from Ryan, 32, on Nov. 8, citing “irreconcilable differences.”
Under California law, earnings during a marriage are divided 50/50. And since the couple reportedly did not sign a prenuptial agreement, Ryan stands to get half of Reese’s $100 million fortune.
Divorce documents obtained by The ENQUIRER show that Reese is asking the court to terminate its ability to award spousal support to Ryan. She wants “exclusive use of the family residence” — a new $5 million mansion in Brentwood, Calif.
The Oscar-winning “Walk the Line” star is also seeking custody of the couple’s two children — Ava, 7, and Deacon, 3. She will allow Ryan visitation.
“While Deacon is too young to understand, Ava doesn’t understand why her father is gone,” said the close source.
“After his trips to Miami and Costa Rica, Ryan returned to Los Angeles to pick up the rest of his things. Reese wouldn’t come back until Ryan was gone. She said she didn’t want to set eyes on him.”
