GEORGE CLOONEY has his fingers crossed that recent rumors about Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling breaking up are true – because he’s ready to swoop in!
Sources say the 52-year-old bachelor is hoping to make the sultry 39-year-old actress his next lady love. The “Gravity” star has been flying solo since splitting with leggy actress and former pro wrestler Stacy Keibler, 34, last July.
“George would give his right arm to date Eva,” revealed an insider. “He’s had a crush on her for a while.
“He’s run into her a few times over the years and loves her energy. He says he could talk to her about anything since she’s hugely intellectual, and he’s turned on by her smarts.”
But George apparently hasn’t made his move yet because he’s waiting to see whether Eva’s two-year relationship with “Ides of March” actor Ryan is really over or not.
“He would never be disrespectful and pursue anyone else’s girlfriend,” the insider noted. “But he’s sent the word out that he’d date her in a heartbeat if she becomes officially single and is interested in him.”
The hunky actor has been famously unwilling to commit to marriage ever since his 1993 divorce from actress Talia Balsam. Before dating Stacy, he had a two-year romance with Italian model Elisabetta Canalis, 35.
Prior to that, he enjoyed a number of flings with a string of beauties, including actresses Renee Zellweger and Krista Allen, and models Sarah Larson and Lisa Snowdon.
But now, it’s the gorgeous Latina who’s captured George’s full attention.
“George isn’t getting any younger, and he’s been pretty lonely since he split from Stacy,” the insider added. “He may finally be ready to find Ms. Right – and Eva would fit the bill perfectly.
