Vancouver police confirmed that Cory Monteith, a longtime resident of the city, was found dead around noon at the Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel.

Monteith had checked in on July 6 and was slated to check out on Saturday.

Police learned that others were in the room with Monteith on Friday night but after they left, he was alone in the room later and into the evening hours surveillance cameras showed.

After Cory missed the checkout time hotel staff went to his room.

Police said there was no signs of foul play and that the cause of death wasn’t immediately apparent. A drug OD is suspected.

Monteith had been dead for several hours when he was discovered. Police said they have spoken to some of the people he had been with earlier on Friday night.

Vancouver police held a 10:30 p.m. PDT news conference but they also explained that key details weren’t being disclosed because the family had just been informed of the death about an hour earlier.

Further details will be released pending an investigation by the British Columbia Coroners Service.

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.

AS The ENQUIRER previously reported Monteith voluntarily admitted himself to a treatment facility for substance addiction earlier this year but that program ended  April 26.

Corywas born in Calgary, raised in Victoria, and started a TV and movie career in Vancouver before hitting the big time as Finn Hudson on the musical series Glee in 2009.
