GENERAL HOSPITAL CRUSHES DAYTIME EMMY NOMINATIONS

Who said TV soaps were dead? GENERAL HOSPITAL netted a whopping 28 Daytime Emmy Award nominations.

Nominations were announced for the 42nd annual awards honoring the best in daytime TV and GH was not alone in kudos gathering.

Other top soaps, "The Young and the Restless" (25 nominations); "The Bold and the Beautiful" (19 nominations) and "Days of Our Lives" (16 nominations) were the other soap vying the most overall trophies, AP reported.

CBS' "The Bold and the Beautiful" and "The Young and the Restless" and NBC's "Days of Our Lives" joined "General Hospital in jostling for best soap opera award.

Best actress noms included Peggy McCay and Alison Sweeney of "Days of Our Lives," GH’s Maura West and Laura Wright  and Gina Tognoni of "The Young and the Restless."

Best actor nominees were Anthony Geary and Jason Thompson of "General Hospital" (again!) –  and from “The Young and Restless” Christian LeBlanc and Billy Miller.

The ceremony will be held in “beautiful downtown” Burbank, Calif., on April 26.
