GARRY SHANDLING’S TV SIDEKICK SECRETLY WEDS

Jeffrey Tambor of “The Larry Sanders Show” has been harboring a huge secret for a month — he’s married!

The tall, balding actor, who played Garry Shandling’s buffoonish sidekick Hank on the HBO show, married his longtime Russian girlfriend Kasia Ostlun in a secret ceremony in New Orleans on Saturday, October 6. The groom is 24 years older than the bride.

“It was a four-day wedding bash that began on Thursday night and lasted through the weekend,” said an insider.

“Jeff and Kasia chose New Orleans because they first visited New Orleans as tourists four years ago and fell in love with the city.”

The couple decided to keep news of the wedding on hold when America began its military attack on Afghanistan the morning after the ceremony.

“They were uncomfortable releasing their happy news at such a painful time,” the insider disclosed.

“But they couldn’t keep it a secret forever.” It is the second marriage for Tambor and the first for Kasia.

Said Rev. Dwight Ramsey, who performed the ceremony: “I’ve performed lots of weddings and I believe that this is one of the best I’ve ever been involved with. They wrote their own vows with a great deal of sensitivity and references to what is going on in the world today.

“The ceremony was held in the Rose Garden of City Park, which is a large New Orleans park.

“After the ceremony, the bride and groom led a wedding party parade on foot down a street with a band serenading behind them. It was great fun.”

Tambor, 57, and 33-year-old Kasia met nearly five years ago at the New York jazz club Cleopatra’s Needle.

“Kasia — who’s Russian by birth — was a marathon runner studying acting by day and waiting tables at the club by night,” said the insider.

“When Jeff wandered into the club and saw Kasia, it was love at first sight. The couple soon began dividing their time between L.A. and New York.”

Kasia spent her last afternoon as a single woman baking Jeffrey his favorite dessert — a two-layered carrot cake that she served at the reception.

“She worked all afternoon in our kitchen to make the cake,” said Karen Hale, manager of The House on Bayou Road where the reception for 35 guests and the wedding party was held.

“She grated all the carrots by hand!”

Jeff and Kasia just bought a new five-bedroom home — with both mountain and ocean views — in the Pacific Palisades section of Los Angeles.

“They have decided to delay their honeymoon because of world events,” the insider added, “but they’ll honeymoon in Italy in the spring.”
