“AMERICAN IDOL” champion Fantasia Barrino is headed for a major breakdown or worse, fear insiders – after the singer posted a shocking anti-gay rant on a social media site.
The emotionally fragile, 28-year-old entertainer has previously attempted suicide, so it set off massive alarm bells when she sent fans this incoherent message via Instagram: “I Rise ABOVE IT ALL!!! THE WORLD IS GONE MAD. KIDS, THE GOVERNMENT, THE church House….It’s a lot that (is) going on that the Bible speaks about we should Not be doing. Weed legal in some places, Gay Marriage Legal BUT YET IM JUDGED!!! I’m not doing Nothing for you… My Life!!!!”
A concerned source close to the singing sensation warned: “Fantasia appears to be coming unhinged again! She feels that she’s become the victim of personal attacks, yet she’s the one doing the ranting and raving. She appears to be unraveling and friends are really worried about her.”
In August 2010, Fantasia overdosed on “aspirin and a sleep aid,” according to her manager, and was rushed to a Charlotte, N.C., hospital.
It came the day after a court complaint from Paula Cook was filed alleging that Fantasia carried on a year-long affair with her husband Antwaun Cook. Fantasia later confessed that she got pregnant by Cook and had an abortion.
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department classified the incident as a suicide/ overdose attempt, and Fantasia publicly admitted: “I just wanted out.”
In the wake of her recent social media outburst, the singer said her comments are being taken out of context.
But those close to Fantasia are interpreting it as a desperate plea to be rescued, said the source.
“It sounds like she’s going off the deep end again. She needs help.”
