FIRST DUDE TODD PALIN DEFIES SUBPOENA

description

Alaska Governor and GOP VP Candidate Sarah Palin’s husband Todd a.k.a. First Dude has refused to testify in Troopergate investigation after being subpoenaed.

Todd was among 13 people who were subpoenaed by mail or by e-mail by the Alaska Legislature.

Todd’s lawyer sent a letter to the bipartisan investigative team saying he objected to the probe and would not appear on Friday to testify.

McCain-Palin
spokesman Ed O’Callaghan alleged the investigation was no longer a legitimate investigation” and “it has been subjected to complete partisanship.”

Initially, Sarah Palin welcomed the probe but since becoming John McCain’s running mate she has strenuously opposed it.

"The original purpose of the investigation was to bring out the truth,” Alaska Senate President Lyda Green, a Republican, said Wednesday.

“The investigation is still on track. Nothing has changed."

The Alaska State Legislature does not have the power to compel any witness to testify before the November 4 Presidential Election.

BTW ignoring a legislative subpoena to testify is punishable by a fine up to $500 but the full Legislature must be in session to file contempt charges.

At the moment, the Alaska State Legislature is not scheduled to meet until January 2009.
