FIRE STILL BURNS FOR BABS & REDFORD

description

Nearly 40 years after they sizzled on the big screen in “The Way We Were,” Barbra Streisand and Robert Redford STILL have the hots for each other!

The legendary stars — now both happily married — played star-crossed lovers in the 1973 film classic, and the on-screen chemistry spilled into real life.

Although they denied their emotional affair ever became physical, the fire between them roared back to life when Robert, 73, and Barbra, 68, gave their first interview together on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” on Nov. 16.

“Seeing Bob again stirred up all those red-hot feelings Barbra has for him,” a source told The ENQUIRER. “She told a friend, ‘I’ve always loved him, but he got away!’”

Barbra married Elliott Gould in 1963, but the marriage reportedly crumbled because of her wandering eye. She began a torrid love affair with Charlie Chaplin’s son Sydney just five months into the marriage and later cheated on Elliott with Omar Sharif.

The “Funny Girl” actress – who has been married to James Brolin since 1998 – has romanced a string of famous lovers over the years in addition to Redford, including Warren Beatty, Ryan O’Neal, Elvis Presley, Andre Agassi and Don Johnson. Robert was married to Lola Jean Van Wagenen when he and Babs filmed “The Way We Were,” but he split from Lola in 1982. In July 2009, he married his longtime girlfriend Sibylle Szaggars, a 53-year-old German artist.

“Barbra has always carried a torch for Bob. She fell in love with him while working together,” continued the source.
