WHOOPI GOLDBERG’s fed up with the changes on “The View” and wants out, even though she just signed a four-year contract sources tell The ENQUIRER.
“Whoopi regrets roping herself in like that and is trying to figure a way out,” said a source close to the Oscar winner, 58.
“She wants out to do other projects, and feels network honchos are holding her back.”
Another source added: “Whoopi is sick of all the drama surrounding ‘The View.’ ”
Co-hosts Sherri Shepherd and Jenny McCarthy were forced out, and it’s been announced that the controversial Rosie O’Donnell will return.
According to one report, Whoopi dissed “The View” creator Barbara Walters after a screening of potential replacements.
Whoopi allegedly snapped, “[I’ve been] working with a cranky 85-year-old woman who’s been mad about everything for 2 years, and I need a break,” apparently referring to Barbara, who retired in May.
ABC reps denied the incident, but the conflict between Whoopi and Barbara is old news to ENQUIRER readers.
In 2012, we reported that Barbara drove Whoopi so crazy that producers had to give Whoopi 10 “mental health” days to keep her from quitting. In 2010, The ENQUIRER reported Whoopi was upset when Barbara dated her former beau, Frank Langella.
That year, Barbara blasted Whoopi and Joy Behar as “unprofessional” when they stormed off the set during an appearance by Bill O’Reilly.
Whoopi will miss Sherri Shepherd, whom she mentored, said the source.
“During a commercial break, audience members were asking Sherri about leaving the show,” said the source. “Whoopi chimed in saying she wished she was off the show.
“The producers were furious. Who knows what Whoopi will do next?”
