SUPER BOWL 49ers quarterback COLIN KAEPERNICK was nearly sacked by an ex-girlfriend who slammed him with a paternity suit, The ENQUIRER has learned exclusively.

In 2009, the deeply religious football star – who recently coined the phrase “Kaepernicking” to describe his touchdown celebrations – was in a relationship with pretty undergrad Felicia Ladson at the University of Nevada, Reno.

But after their romance cooled and Ladson, 26, gave birth to a baby boy in March 2010, she immediately slapped the then-22-year-old college athlete with a paternity suit.

Child welfare officials instructed him to take a government-mandated DNA test and pay Felicia 18 percent of his gross monthly income for child support.

However, the gridiron sensation immediately fired back by submitting his own DNA test, which proved he was not the father of the baby, according to court documents.

The case was eventually dismissed.

“I never doubted the outcome of this paternity test,” Kaepernick wrote in a letter to the court.

But others weren’t so sure.

“He really dodged a bullet,” said a source close to the San Francisco 49ers signal-caller.
