M ichael Douglas is getting his dream present for his 70th birthday Sept. 25.

The National ENQUIRER has learned his jailed drug dealer son Cameron will be released a year earlier than expected, in a sensational reversal for the Academy Award–winning star.

The 35-year-old, whose mother is the star’s ex-wife Diandra, has been behind bars since a 2009 conviction for conspiracy to distribute narcotics after being caught dealing crystal meth and cocaine.

Michael made an impassioned plea at the 2013 Emmy Awards, helping Cameron win release from solitary confinement at Federal Corrections Institute in Cumberland, Maryland last March.

Now, The ENQUIRER has learned Cam will be freed March 18, 2017, after being credited with time served. Previous reports stated he was to remain behind bars until 2018.

Michael is thrilled with the news.

Said a pal: “That’s about as good a birthday present as he can get for his 70th!

“While Cameron’s release is still a few years away, it’s going to be earlier than Michael expected.

“Michael, who also survived Stage 4 tongue cancer, blamed himself for being a workaholic dad and not spending enough time with his son during his marriage to Diandra.”

The handsome star, who divorced Diandra in 2000 after a 23-year marriage, also has two youngsters – Dylan, 14, and Carys, 11 – with gorgeous spouse Catherine Zeta-Jones.

Added the source: “Michael has a lot to celebrate. He’s past his life-and-death tongue cancer battle, and his old man, Kirk Douglas, is still around at age 97.

“On top of that, he’s worked out marital problems with Catherine. “Now all he needs is Cam home.”
