For “The Addams Family” star John Astin, the recent loss of co-star Ken Weatherwax – who played his TV son Pugsley on the iconic 1960s sitcom – was like a death in his own family.

A heart attack claimed 59-year-old Ken on Dec. 7 in Ventura County, Calif.

John, 84, who played the kooky family patriarch Gomez on the show, told The National ENQUIRER in an exclusive interview: “When we worked on ‘The Addams Family,’ it really felt like he was a son of mine! He was a lovely young boy.

“I remember this one show we did where Pugsley brings this gorilla home from the circus named Gorgo. We had a tender father-son moment on the show. I just wished we had more of those.”

Ken’s sudden death makes him the third cast member to enter the “great unknown.”

Carolyn Jones, who played Morticia, died in 1983; Ted Cassidy, who played hulking butler Lurch, in 1979; and Jackie Coogan, who played Uncle Fester, in 1984.

John added: “Ken may be gone now, but Pugsley will live on in TV history!”
