THE EQUALIZER DIES

Woodward, a vet of the small screen crime series The Equalizer and the star of the horror classic The Wicker Man died today in the UK, his agent revealed.

Janet Glass, his agent, said Woodward had been ill for some time and died at home surrounded by friends and family.

"That integrity shone through in the roles he played," she told Reuters. "I can’t ever remember, in all the productions he undertook, anyone having a bad word to say about him and he never had anything bad to say about anyone else either."

Woodward won a Golden Globe for this role as Robert McCall in The Equalizer and worldwide acclaim for his role as a London detective investigating druidic ritual and murder in The Wicker Man (1973) and Breaker Morant.

Woodward’s last screen appearance was in Hot Fuzz with Simon Pegg.
