Legendary Hollywood writer ELMORE LEONARD has died at age 87, 3 weeks after suffering a stroke.

You may not know the face but Leonard was a prolific western and crime/mystery writer and was top gun behind “Get Shorty”, the TV show “Justified”, “Mr. Majestyk”, “3:10 to Yuma”, "Jackie Brown" "Valdez IS Coming", and “Hombre” among many, many others.

Leonard passed away at his home in Detroit, his researcher posted on his Facebook page: "The post I dreaded to write, and you dreaded to read. Elmore passed away at 7:15 this morning from complications from his stroke. He was at home surrounded by his loving family."

In 2012, after learning he was to become a National Book Award lifetime achievement recipient, Leonard said he had no intention of writing finis.

"I probably won't quit until I just quit everything – quit my life – because it's all I know how to do," he told AP.

 "And it's fun. I do have fun writing, and a long time ago, I told myself, `You got to have fun at this, or it'll drive you nuts.'"
