ELLEN DEGENERES is in deep trouble with wife Portia de Rossi after she jokingly called mom-to-be Drew Barrymore “fat”!
Aussie beauty Portia has publicly admitted her struggles with eating disorders, and sources say Ellen’s flippant jab about Drew’s weight has put her already rocky marriage to Portia at risk.
“Portia was in tears and lit into Ellen for being insensitive,” disclosed an insider.
“She screamed at Ellen that she needs to be a better champion of women of all shapes and sizes. She couldn’t believe Ellen would fat-shame a pregnant woman and said it was like a knife in her own back. Portia was so offended that she called Drew and apologized for Ellen.”
The firestorm erupted at the People’s Choice Awards on Jan. 8 when Drew – who’s expecting her second child – announced onstage that “Ellen DeGeneres just told me I was fat,” referring to the funnylady’s backstage joke.
The two later made light of the incident when Drew, 38, appeared on Ellen’s talk show on Jan. 13, but Portia is said to still be stewing.
The “Arrested Development” star, 41, detailed her battles with anorexia and bulimia in her memoir, “Unbearable Lightness: A Story of Loss and Gain.”
Meanwhile, as The ENQUIRER previously reported, Ellen and Portia’s marriage has been shaken by the 56-year-old talk-show queen’s flirting with other women, workaholic ways and real estate addiction.
Sources say the two are bracing for a $125 million divorce.
“Ellen begged Portia for forgiveness, but Portia is making her grovel,” said the source. “And with all of their issues, Ellen’s flub couldn’t have come at a worse time.”
