“DUCK DYNASTY” patriarch Phil Robertson got a rock star’s ovation at a recent top-level Republican conference – and sources say he’s planning to run for office!
The outspoken leader of the reality TV clan electrified the audience at the 2014 Republican Leadership Conference in New Orleans on May 29.
Speaking alongside Republican stars Texas Gov. Rick Perry and U.S. Senator Ted Cruz, the straight-shooting patriarch declared: “GOP, you can’t be right for America if you’re wrong with God. You want to turn the Republican Party? Get Godly.”
He also took aim at President Obama, blasting White House decisions as “downright embarrassing.”
And now the camouflage-wearing, bearded star apparently wants to turn his words into action.
“Phil thinks the time is right for a good old-fashioned God-fearing guy like him to become a politico,” revealed an insider.
“He chuckled, ‘Can you imagine me as Duck Commander in chief?’ He’s serious about running for office. He’d like to give the liberals a run for their money!”
As The ENQUIRER reported earlier this year, Phil, 68, triggered a national firestorm of controversy when he gave a shocking interview to “GQ” magazine, blasting gays, adulterers, greedy people, drunkards, male prostitutes and idolaters.
Phil proclaimed about gays: “Don’t deceive yourself – it’s not right. They won’t inherit the kingdom of God!”
He became an instant hero to many when he remained unrepentant even after being temporarily suspended from his hit A&E show.
Former Alaskan governor and Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin rallied to his side on Facebook, posting a photo of herself with the show’s cast. And Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal declared: “Phil Robertson and his family are great citizens of the State of Louisiana.”
