The ENQUIRER reports exclusively rehabbed sex addict David Duchovny recently begged his estranged wife Tea Leoni to patch up their marriage, but she flatly refused!
Now the X-Files hunk is blaming Oscar-winning lothario Billy Bob Thornton for the breakup – after discovering an explicit sexual text message from Sling Blade-er on Tea’s cell phone, insiders say.
Tea, 42, co-stars with Billy Bob, 53, in the upcoming Manure – and sources say she joined him and his band on tour this summer while Duchovny, 48, was in treatment for sex addiction at Tea’s request.
But Duchovny had hoped to save the couple’s 11-year marriage when Tea and their children – Madelaine, 9, and Kyd, 6 – joined him in Atlanta on Oct. 17, where he’s filming new flick The Joneses, according to sources.
"Tea made it clear to David that she was in Atlanta only so the kids could see their father," the insider told The ENQUIRER.
"They stayed in separate rooms at his rental home. At one point, David begged Tea not to go through with the divorce. But she refused, telling him, ‘No, it’s over.’"
A source close to the actor said: "It was one of the worst weekends of David’s life. He had to tell his kids that their mommy and daddy are going to split up for good."
When contacted by The ENQUIRER, reps for both Tea and Billy Bob denied they were romantically involved and said they were just "friends."
Duchovny suspected an affair – and he felt his fears were confirmed when he found an explicit text message on Tea’s cell phone from Billy Bob, said the friend.
"The text message was very sexual in nature. David was stunned," disclosed the friend.
"He confronted Tea with it and she blew up at him, saying it was none of his business.
"Tea was the one who wanted to sell their Malibu home and move to Manhattan. Then once David and the kids were there, she split to be with Billy Bob!"
