Doris Day To The Rescue For Badly Shaken Bob Barker

Courageously setting aside her own struggles, bighearted Doris Day swung into action to comfort old friend Bob Barker after a frightening fall sent him to the hospital!

The former “The Price Is Right” host was walking outside his L.A. home when he tripped and hit his head on the sidewalk.

In a stroke of luck, two police officers happened to be passing by and rescued him!

Bob received stitches to his forehead and was released, much to the relief of pal Doris.

The 91-year-old Hollywood legends are united in their love for animals and have worked in the fight to save them.

“Doris and Bob have crossed paths and admired each other’s work with animals for decades,” said an insider.

Doris started the nonprofit group The Doris Day Animal Foundation in 1978.

Bob has long been involved in animal rights issues — so much that in 2010 the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) named their L.A. office after him!

Bob and Doris are so devoted to their shared cause that, sources said, they both plan to leave their massive fortunes — Bob’s $70 million and Doris’ estimated $34 million — to animal rights groups.

Both stars are also battling their own heath woes.

In 2002, Bob had prostate surgery and suffered a mild stroke.

Doris is crippled by arthritis, kidney infections and failing eyesight.

But nothing could have kept her from reaching out to Bob, who’s reportedly doing well after the scary spill.

“She and Bob are in this fight for animal welfare together,” said the source. “She’d hate to lose such a strong friend and ally!”
