Don’t FEAR the TV

description

There’s NO escape!

The wretched folks who run TV broadcasting want to insure you get their message now that free TV is mostly a thing of the past.

Well, it was never free anyway – that’s what the ads were for.

But now such tricks like fast forwarding, long a must-have for cable, satellite viewers, to get fast fast relief from ads will soon be a thing of the past.

New commercials will be like on-line viral ads – pause your remote and a pop-up will appear extolling the virtues of some other new wonder thang – Billy Mays death notwithstanding.

The plan is to  target viewers with compatible commercials.

For example, if you’re watching a show on a cooking net like Iron Chef America and  if you pause or attempt to zip past a regular commercial a graphic appears offering "Sub-Zero: Every Cook Deserves the Best."

While pleasing advertisers, consumers besieged already by non-stop ads everywhere are griping  that they ALREADY pay for TV service AND a DVR to eliminate such hassle.

"If you took out the ad support, your (cable) bill would triple or quadruple," a TV exec said. "There’s no way around it."

Yes there is – unplug.
