CONRAD BAIN who played the “dad” on DIFF'RENT STROKES dead at 89.

Reportedly, Bain died Monday night in Livermore, California

Details surrounding the exact nature of his death remain unknown.

On the popular 1980s TV show Bain played Phillip Drummond opposite the late Gary Coleman, Dana Plato and Todd Bridges.

Bain was born in Lethrbridge, Alberta, Canada and studied at the Banff School of Fine Arts before serving in the Canadia Army during WW2.

Working as a stage actor in New York he also appeared on the 1960s gothic soaper Dark Shadows as the innkeeper during the first two seasons and was killed off by the local werewolf

In the early 1970s, Bain appeared in New York-based films like Lovers and Other Strangers and Woody Allen’s Bananas hitting the big time in episodic TV

He played Dr. Arthur Harmon, uber-liberal Bea Arthur's conservative nemesis on Maude.

Bain then landed his defining role as Park Avenue millionaire on Diff'rent Strokes (1978–86).

In 1996, Bain reprised his role of Phillip Drummond on the series finale of the Fresh Prince of Bel Air with Will Smith.
