The “unlucky-in-love” thesp – who plays Showtime’s Dexter Morgan, the serial killer with a heart AND soul – is now hanging out with his gay buddies who are putting together lists of eligible women for him to date.

“Michael has a ton of gay friends and he’s having a blast hanging with them until he meets Ms. Right,” said a close source.

“His buddies are trying to fix him up with their sisters, co-workers and neighbors – anyone they think might be a suitable girlfriend for Michael.”

The 40-year-old actor, who’s currently in remission after battling Hodgkin’s lymphoma, was married to actress Amy Spanger from 2002 until 2006. In 2008, he married his “Dexter” co-star Jennifer Carpenter, who plays his TV sister Debra Morgan.

The couple announced their divorce in December 2010, saying they had been separated for “some time.”

On April 24, the former “Six Feet Under” star was spotted partying with a bunch of his friends at famed gay bar The Abbey in West Hollywood.

“Michael’s gay friends are committed to helping him find the perfect woman,” said the source.

Meanwhile, rapper Mos Def and Tom Hanks’ son, Colin Hanks, have joined the cast of the hit Showtime series.
