A woman who announced her desire to off herself by Tweeting Demi Moore was discovered by cops after followers of the thesp told cops – who later said this was "an unprecedented use of the network" used primarily for chit-chat and self promotion.
Known by her Twitter handle, "Sandieguy",a California resident sent Demi a message saying she was planning suicide.
At approximately 3 AM PDT Sandieguy tweeted "Getting a knife, a big one that is sharp. Going to cut my arm down the whole arm so it doesn’t waste time" adding seconds later "gbye … gonna kill myself now."
Over 370,000 people follow the Ghost star’s real-time updates and Demi responded by posting the threat on her page "hope you are joking."
"We received several calls in regards to the Twitter threat," San Jose Police Department Public Information Officer Jermaine Thomas told media after Sandieguy’s Twitter profile revealed her to be in the San Jose area.
"We located the subject and that person was uninjured," Thomas revealed. "We did take the person into custody for evaluation."
Later Moore’s hubby Ashton Kutcher Tweet-ed himself about the close call:
"Wifey reported a suicide attempt based on a at reply tweet she got and saved someones life. the woman is in the hospital now."
Maybe all this narcissistic ephemera has a point after all.
