IN a dramatic turn of events, Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher are undergoing secret counseling in a last-ditch effort to save their badly battered marriage.
The six-year union fell apart in November after the “Two and a Half Men” hunk was caught red-handed in a cheating scandal. But now Demi and Ashton, who never filed for divorce, are attending regular therapy sessions and have resumed a romantic relationship, say sources.
Incredibly, Ashton is trying to heal his marital wounds while at the same time enjoying a “friends with benefits” fling with stunning actress Mila Kunis, the sources add.
“Ashton and Demi are meeting on an almost weekly basis for counseling,” revealed an insider. “They’re bonding and are talking on the phone constantly.”
The two are attending Kabbalah-based therapy sessions, helped by two of the mystical Jewish sect’s biggest proponents, writer Danny Spektor and Rabbi Yehuda Berg, who officiated at the couple’s 2005 wedding.
It’s going so well that on June 3, Demi, 49, and Ashton, 34, shared a night of passion at Spektor’s Los Angeles-area home, confided the insider.
And that’s good news for Demi’s three daughters with ex-hubby Bruce Willis – Rumer, 23, Scout, 21, and Tallulah, 18.
“Demi’s daughters have been on the outs with their mother over her breakup with Ashton,” said the insider. “They’d love it if the two managed to work out their marriage problems.”
But there is a major pothole on their road to happiness – Ashton’s infatuation with 28-year-old Mila, his co-star on “That ’70s Show.”
The two took a three- day vacation together in late April. And in June they were spotted motorcycling around Hollywood and enjoying a cozy dinner.
“Ashton and Mila have been close friends for years, and she’s eager for commitment,” said the insider. “Meanwhile, she doesn’t even know that Demi and Ashton are going through counseling and spend nights together.”
And she’d be shocked to learn that the pair are planning a secret getaway to beautiful Cachuma Lake near Santa Barbara.
“While Ashton is committed to putting his marriage to Demi back on track, he’s trying to decide what to do about Mila,” said the insider. “He wants to stay friends but he has to figure out how to let her down easy.”
Ironically, Ashton and Demi may not even be legally married. Since they tied the knot in a Kabbalah ceremony, some question its legitimacy. But there is no doubt they consider it binding and have now turned to Kabbalah to help save the union.
“The counseling sessions are incredibly helpful because they have a lot of deep-seated issues they’re finally addressing,” revealed the insider.
“Ashton feels tremendous guilt over cheating, but he’s always hated how Demi treats him more like a son than a husband. And she complains that he doesn’t give her the proper respect.
“He also wants his own biological kids, which Demi can’t provide. That’s why Mila has seemed like an attractive option.
“The truth is that Demi and Ashton have a long way to go before they’re out of the woods.”
