description

The exec who succeeded Jay-Z as head of Def Jam blew his brains out.

Shakir Stewart, 34, was found in the bathroom of his Atlanta suburb home Cobb County police confirmed Saturday.  He died from a self- inflicted gunshot wound.

Stweart was in A&R with the label signing such acts as Young Jeezy and Rick Ross before being named to succeed Jay-Z in June.

The Morehouse College grad previously worked at Hitco publishing where he signed Beyonce.

Def Jam issued a statement on behalf of his fiancée Michelle Rivers and his family: "As much as we all tried to help him, Shakir was in deep pain and largely suffering in silence."
