DEATH OF A VAMPIRE

description

No, not Robert Pattinson.  The late great Count Yorga, Robert Quarry, 84.

Quarry who appeared alongside horror gurus Vincent Price and Peter Cushing in Madhouse achieved his greatest fame as Count Yorga, Vampire (1970) and its sequel The Return of Count Yorga.  He also appeared with Price in Dr. Phibes Rises Again.

In declining health for a number of years Quarry had been living at the Motion Picture Home and was the recipient of a major fan-tribute orchestrated by scream mag Fangoria last year.

Quarry may have achieved greater stardom if not for a car accident which disfigured his face.

He also appeared in such TV shows as Buck Rogers, The Millionaire and The Rockford Files.

In his later career he was billed as Robert Connell, hoping to put his blood feast films behind him.

No such luck for a vampire great.
