DAVE SEXTORTION GUILTY PLEA

UPDATE: The CBS producer accused of trying to blackmail David Letterman  for $2 million has plead to one count of grand larceny in the 2nd degree.

48 Hours
producer Robert Haldeman, 51, admitted culpability in the extortion plot which exposed Letterman's then-ongoing affair with secret lover former intern Stephanie Birkitt.

Purportedly, Haldeman tried to sell a "script" to Letterman about his affair for a $2 million payday.

But Dave blew the whistle to the Manhattan District Attorney's office which set up a sting operation as The ENQUIRER reported previously.

Letterman then admitted his cheating ways on the air to not only the world but his wife.

With a guilty plea, Haldeman is  eligible for a parole within six months, The ENQUIRER has learned.

Letterman later thanked the DA's office in a statement: "When they became involved in this case I had complete faith that a just and appropriate result was inevitable. On behalf of my family, I am extremely grateful for their tireless efforts.”
