Cuba Gooding, Sr. was found dead in his car from a suspected overdose!
The 72-year-old father of Oscar-winning actor Cuba Gooding, Jr. was discovered slumped over his silver Jaguar in California’s San Fernando Valley.
Local police suspect he died from a drug overdose and reportedly found “empty booze containers” all over his car!
The elder Gooding had achieved success as the lead singer of “The Main Ingredient” — a soul group who had a big hit in 1972 with their song, “Everybody Plays the Fool.”
His passing comes at a tumultuous time in his famous son’s life. As previously reported by The ENQUIRER, the “People vs. O.J. Simpson” star is in midst of a messy divorce from his wife, Sarah.
She filed documents seeking a legal separation from Cuba after cheating on her for two decades!
The actor responded by filing for divorce against her — and is seeking joint custody of their 11-year-old daughter. They also are parents to two adult children.
Reports also surfaced last year of the star’s hard-partying ways — cozying up to various women at nightclubs across the country —
along with drunken antics such as unwanted sexual advances and dancing shirtless with his pants down!
Gooding Sr. is survived by his wife Shirley, actors Cuba and Omar Gooding and two other children.
The official cause of death is pending, although there is no suspicion of foul play.
