Beloved Bindi Irwin dazzled at the senior prom of her handsome American boyfriend by ditching her trademark khakis for a stylish black designer dress!

“She was so lovely,” said fellow prom attendee Jackie Sanelli. “Some students had no idea she was going to turn up, and their jaws hit the floor when they saw her!”

Those teens haven’t seen anything yet: Bindi will be kicking up her heels on the new season of “Dancing with the Stars,” beginning Sept. 14.

Now a mature 17, Bindi was just a little girl when her father, “Crocodile Hunter” Steve Irwin, was killed in a horrifying attack by a stingray in 2006. He was 44.

Bindi traveled all the way from her native Queensland to the Sunshine State to attend the event on the arm of pro wakeboarder Chandler Powell.

“We all grew up here in the States watching her on TV, so to have her at the prom was amazing,” said Jackie, a good friend of Bindi’s hunky date.

As The National ENQUIRER first revealed, Bindi’s new man means quite a lot to her.

“There is someone special in my life right now and I’m really happy with that!” she told The ENQUIRER back in July.

Chandler, 18, kept Bindi’s appearance a surprise because he didn’t want her to be overwhelmed by the attention.

The cute couple first met in November 2013 while Chandler was competing in Australia. They stayed in touch, and Bindi was happy to travel halfway around the world to be Chandler’s prom date!

Pals said he acted like her Prince Charming at the prom, while Bindi came off as anything but the celebrity she’s become since her dad’s death.

“She told me that she loved my dress!” said Kaylie Bomar. “She had time for everybody.”

Most of her time was reserved for Chandler, though. Luckily, each globe-trots extensively – Chandler because of his sport and Bindi because she’s following in her father’s conservationist footsteps.

“They both love to travel,” Taylor added. “They’re a perfect match.”
