KATIE COURIC VS. DIANE SAWYER RATINGS WAR TO THE DEATH!
"Bring it on, Ice Queen!" CBS Evening News anchor Katie Couric threw down the gauntlet after learning her old rival Diane Sawyer was taking over ABC’s evening news broadcast.
"Katie is already making jokes about Diane’s promotion," disclosed a friend.
"She quipped, ‘So Diane DIDN’T learn her lesson when I was over at Today. She’s coming back for more punishment!’"
The long-simmering feud between the two news stars flared again after 63-year-old Diane was chosen to replace the retiring Charles Gibson. She’ll exit Good Morning America at year’s end to take over her network’s top news spot in January.
Behind the scenes, both women vowed to bury the other in the ratings. Diane was quick to tell a pal:
"If Katie thinks she has it rough now, wait until we go at it!"
