CORONER: WHITNEY DEATH — DRUG TESTS PENDING

Whitney Houston

UPDATE 2:43 EST: AT a press conference LAPD said Whitney's death was considered a "routine investigation" and "not a homicide". The spokesperson refused to elabotrrate on earlier reports differing to the LA County Coroner's Office as to "Cause of Death" which be deferred pending until pending toxi reports.

EARLIER: Los Angeles County Coroner’s office said the troubled pop thrush  possibly died from downing a sedative cocktail of Xanax and booze. Whitney Houston’s autopsy was performed Sunday but law enforcement said they wouldn’t have any definite answers until the full toxicology reports are finished in about 4 to 6 weeks.

"At this time, her cause of death is deferred pending toxicology and further testing," said Los Angeles County Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter.

"I know there are reports that she drowned or overdosed. We won't make the final determination until all the tests are in," he said.

According to multiple new reports, Houston apparently slipped beneath the bath water in a drug stupor.

Houston had been ensconced in her fourth-floor suite at the Beverly Hilton getting ready for a Grammys party downstairs – a gala that continued even as her body remained in a sealed room for nine hours.

Whitney Houston's family was reportedly told by L.A. County Coroner officials that the singer did not die from drowning, but rather from what appears to be a combination of Xanax and other prescription drugs  mixed with alcohol.
