Stephen Colbert has a new crusade — fighting against the glamorization of the horrors of face violence.
Not unlike his real-life tragedy last year of wrist-breakage, talk show titan Colbert has morphed a real injury into a faux crusade.
Despite his scar-ridden injury, Colbert’s brought attention to a nation wide malady on his show.
In EXTREME CLOSE UP, the intrepid Colbert surveyed the damage, "What the hell did I do to myself on Saturday? I’ve got stitches up there and it looks like I’m growing a little map of Norway down the side of my face."
Neither Colbert’s flack nor Comedy Central commented on the cause of his major facial trauma.
Colbert claims to have caused the hideous scarring by "practicing for a walk-on role in Cirque du Soleil and overestimating the number of French Canadians my forehead would support."
"I think I know what happened to your face, `cause I can tell," chat guest Will Smith theorized on Monday’s show.
"Somebody kicked your ass, didn’t they?"
