CHARLIE SHEEN's ex-wife, BROOKE MUELLER, left Los Angeles International Airport Monday morning for a controversial rehabilitation program in Cancun, Mexico.
RadarOnline.com reports Mueller left around 7:40 a.m., with her personal physician, who will oversee her treatment in Mexico.
Mueller will be taking ibogaine in rehab – a dug that isn't legal in the U.S.
Many U.S. medical experts concur ibogaine is a dangerous hallucinogen and the drug is a Controlled Substance in the U.S but is OK South of the Bodder.
"I have had this experience with dozens of patients, but most disturbingly these patients had persistent mood and personality changes," Dr. Drew Pinsky said.
Mueller was discharged from a Los Angeles hospital Sunday night and checked into a hotel before leaving for Cancun on Monday morning.
"Brooke is absolutely desperate," a source said.
