CARRIE and her hunky hockey hubby Mike Fisher are stuck in a face-off over when they should start their family.

The country superstar thinks having a baby right now would clip her booming career – and he’s ready to shoot and score ASAP!

“Carrie and Mike have a happy marriage, but the baby issue is becoming a big bone of contention between them,” a close source told The ENQUIRER. “If he had his way, Carrie would be pregnant tomorrow, but she keeps insisting now isn’t the right time.

Carrie says she can’t take a year off from singing and still stay red-hot. They’re poles apart and at the point where they almost have to agree to disagree.”

The “Two Black Cadillacs” songbird, who turned 30 in March, has seen her career skyrocket since winning “American Idol” in 2005.

She’s scored 17 No. 1 hits and has topped 45 million in album sales.

While she’s said in the past that Mike, 32, would be thrilled if they had seven children together, Carrie recently admitted to an interviewer: “I don’t think there will ever be a great time to have kids.”

According to the source, Carrie has even told friends she’s considered putting off motherhood until after she retires from singing.

“Carrie has never believed that she can have it all,” the source added. “When she does decide to become a mother, she’ll give it her all – the same way she’s given everything she has to her career. But that day isn’t anytime soon. Right now, her career is her baby.”
