A nasty Kennedy family feud has erupted in the wake of William Kennedy Smith’s election to a post in Washington, D.C., sources told The ENQUIRER.
Caroline Kennedy and other prominent members of the political clan are furious that William, 54, is using the Kennedy name to advance his own political agenda.
“He’s a black sheep,” an insider revealed.
“He besmirched the family name once and with his winning the post in D.C., he’s bringing the scandal back!”
Their hackles were raised in November when William was elected to an unpaid position on D.C.’s Advisory Neighborhood Commission.
Caroline – U.S. ambassador to Japan – believes her cousin’s pursuit of a political career will harm her own ambitions, said the insider.
“Caroline is disgusted that Willie has entered politics,” said the source. “She entertains bigger aspirations after serving as ambassador, and now here comes ‘Slick Willie’ trying to steal the Kennedy spotlight.”
Another insider said RFK’s sons – Joe Kennedy II and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. – are huddling with Caroline over how to “wipe the family clean of Willie.”
In 1991, he was accused of rape. The trial put the entire Kennedy clan under a microscope before William was acquitted.
