BRUCE JENNER kept one blockbuster secret to himself during his headline-making TV interview with Diane Sawyer.
When asked if he had ever been with a man, Bruce declared: “Oh my God, is he gay? No, I’m not gay!”
He added: “I am, as far as I know, heterosexual. I’ve never been with a guy.”
But The National ENQUIRER has learned the Olympic hero engaged in a brief but passionate sex romp with a man decades ago! Bruce’s “foray with forbidden love,” according to a source with knowledge of the gay affair, allegedly occurred as his marriage to second wife Linda Thompson ended.
Revealed the source: “At the time, their relationship was on the rocks, and Bruce was greatly conflicted over his sexuality.
He was already dressing in women’s clothing, and taking steps to transform himself with plastic surgery.”
The other man – whose name is being withheld by The ENQUIRER – was not a celebrity.
“He was just a regular guy who apparently was battling his own demons at the time,” the source revealed.
“He was in AA [Alcoholics Anonymous] trying to get sober. Bruce met him through pals. The guy was an events planner. The two hooked up a couple of times, and then it ended.”
When The ENQUIRER asked Bruce’s reps to comment about the source’s claims, they did not respond.
At the time of the affair, now 65-year-old Bruce was in his 30s, and had four young children.
He had a son, Burt, with first wife, Chrystie Crownover, who was two months pregnant with their daughter Casey in 1979 when the couple split.
After their divorce in 1981, he married “Hee Haw” honey Linda, who was Elvis Presley’s ex-girlfriend.
Bruce sired sons Brandon and Brody with Linda before she dumped him in a bitter split after four years.
At the time she was quoted as saying: “We had a great relationship, but not a marriage.”
According to a recent published report, Linda learned Bruce was dressing in women’s clothing, and told him: “I’m leaving you, and I don’t even want any child support. Just get out of our lives.”
The source told The ENQUIRER: “Linda’s never said the split was because Bruce cheated. Whether she knew at the time about the man remains to be seen.”
In 1989, four years after their divorce, Bruce publicly denied he was headed for a sex change, telling a reporter: “The sex change rumors are a real joke. Everyone was making fun of my Bob Hope ski-jump nose and I didn’t like that. I just wanted a change.”
Added the source: “After decades of living a lie, the true Bruce is finally emerging. As for whether he takes on any more male lovers, only time will tell.”
