BROOKE ART KIDDIE PORN

description

Nude pic of then-ten year old Brooke Shields creates kiddie porn row at prestigious art museum.

A nude snap of Brooke posing in a bathtub when she was a child is slated to be displayed as part of the Pop Life: Art In A Material World at the Tate Modern in the London.

The original image taken by photog Gary Cross in 1981 was the crux of lawsuit initiated by Brooke to buy the negatives back.

The controversial nude photo is separated from the other exhibits and hangs in its own

Children’s activist and Kidscape founder Michele Elliott, decried the pix inclusion, ""If you are using a picture of a naked child to bring people to your exhibition, then you are exploiting that child. It’s as if they are using a 10-year-old girl for bait. I find it disturbing and they should be ashamed of themselves.

"And putting the picture in a room with a warning outside really is a magnet for pedophiles."

Lawyers were consulted by the board of exhibitors at the Tate Modern prior to deciding to display the provocative .

"As with any artwork that contains challenging imagery, Tate has sought legal advice and evaluated the situation," a museum spokesman said.

"Tate has taken measures to inform visitors of the nature of the work, providing information outlining the intentions of the artist."

And while Brooke may have been too young to provide legal consent, it was most certainly approved by her  mother.
