Broken Burt Reynolds Clinging On To Life!

Burt reynolds splash square

Friends fear Hollywood legend BURT REYNOLDS could have just weeks to live as he battles health and money woes.

The 79-year-old “Deliverance” star looked startlingly frail, and hobbled along with a cane during a rare appearance at the Wizard World Comic Con in Philadelphia in May.

“Burt appeared to be in considerable pain,” revealed an eyewitness. “He’s withered to a shell of his former self.”

A friend confirmed to The National ENQUIRER: “Burt’s in an extremely bad way. He could be gone in just weeks!

“He’s spent the last few months finishing his autobiography. It could well be published after his death.”

In the past few years, the “Smokey and the Bandit” actor has been reeling from one health crisis after another.

As The ENQUIRER reported in 2009, Burt was found semiconscious and covered in blood after a fall at his Florida home.

While being treated in a hospital emergency room, he behaved so bizarrely he was taken to a county mental health facility.

The facility refused to release Burt unless he agreed to enter drug and alcohol rehab.

The “Semi-Tough” star had been abusing booze and prescription drugs, mainly painkillers following back surgery a few years earlier.

He also developed an addiction to the sleeping pill Halcion in the ’80s when he battled pain from a jaw problem.

After his stint in rehab, the man who once was one of Hollywood’s most popular leading men learned he had a serious heart problem.

Burt underwent quintuple bypass surgery in February 2010, but hid the fact from friends – and even his only son, Quinton.

Three years later, the flu-ravaged “Boogie Nights” megastar collapsed at home, and might have died if not for a chance visit by friends who rushed him to the hospital.

Money issues have also crippled the Oscar-nominated actor.

Last year, Burt was forced to auction off $2.5 million worth of personal memorabilia after a bank foreclosed on his Hobe Sound home.

Once worth $15 million, it’s now valued at $2.8 million.

While Burt and ex-wife Loni Anderson split in 1994, he still owed her $97,000. She recently sued to collect, and Burt was ordered to pay his tab, which had ballooned to $154,520!

Added the friend: “The poor guy’s been through the wringer. There doesn’t seem to be a light at the end of the tunnel for this once great star.”
