BRITNEY SPEARS’ former husband is slamming her new boyfriend as an “opportunist!”
The pop star’s ex, Kevin Federline, was shocked when Britney, 33, confided she wants to marry reality TV writer and producer Charlie Ebersol, sources told The National ENQUIRER.
They began dating in October after Britney’s previous squeeze, David Lucado, reportedly cheated with a porn star. “To Britney, Charlie looks like a knight in shining armor.
He rescued her after she found out her last boyfriend cheated on her openly, and made a fool of her,” a family insider told The ENQUIRER. “But Kevin believes Charlie is using Britney to gain fame and open doors for him.”
Charlie, 32 – the son of highpowered NBC executive Dick Ebersol and actress Susan Saint James – has called Britney his “favorite thing in the world,” saying that she inspires him every day and makes him “want to get up and be better.”
But that’s exactly what worries Kevin, said the insider.
“Charlie really hasn’t made as big a name for himself in the producing world as he would have liked,” said the source.
“He’d like everyone to believe he’s in this relationship for the right reasons, but the truth is he’s career driven. Kevin sees Charlie as an opportunist.”
Britney, who is worth an estimated $58 million, shares sons Jayden and Sean with Kevin. They divorced in June 2007.
