Britney Spears will make her first big step toward a comeback when she opens the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday, Sept. 9, the network has confirmed. “She’ll captivate everyone, and set the tone for rest of the night,” the show’s producer, Jesse Ignjatovic, says. “You can expect the things we want and expect from Britney — that will all be there.” Ignjatovic says Brit — who will perform her single “Gimme More” from her upcoming album — has been consulting with illusionist Criss Angel on “some moments of the performance.” He adds, “What I’ve seen of it is great. She’ll be dancing, performing, doing her thing. That’s exactly what we all want.”
