Britney Spears is going to great lengths to boost her career comeback — she’s launching her own line of hair extensions!
The pop princess has been sporting a wide variety of faux locks ever since she shaved her head in February 2007 — and now she wants to introduce her own signature line of fake tresses to her fans.
The new line will be part of her much-hyped comeback — which also includes her recently released CD, "Circus," perfumes, books, DVDs and merchandise for her upcoming tour.
"After nearly two years of trying to hide the hideous haircut Britney gave herself, she’s become an expert on weaves, wigs and extensions,” an insider revealed. “That’s what gave her the idea to launch her own product line.
“There was a time when Britney dreaded having to wear a wig or extensions whenever she went out in public, but now she’s gotten hooked on them because they’re so much easier than dealing with cuts, coloring and styling.”
The 27-year-old performer has been consulting with some of the biggest names in the hair business, including her favorite stylist, Kim Vo, the general manager of Vo’s B2V salon, Salvatore D’Angelo, and Tabatha Coffey of Bravo’s “Shear Genius” and “Tabatha’s Salon Takeover,” say sources.
“The project is still in its early stages, but Britney is getting involved in the entire process – from manufacturing to marketing and distribution,” said the source.
“She’s eager to prove that in addition to being a world-class entertainer, she’s also a shrewd businesswoman.”
