BRITNEY: CHARGES FILED IN AUGUST HIT & RUN

description

On Friday, Sept. 21, the Los Angeles City Attorney filed charges against Britney Spears stemming from an August fender bender that was caught on camera by paparazzi. Spears was charged with one count of hit and run while causing damage to property and one count of driving without a valid California license.

The incident happened in Studio City, Calif. on Aug. 6 when Brit hit another car while in a Petco parking lot. The owner of the station wagon, Kim Robard-Rifkin, was not in the car at the time, and Britney left the scene without leaving a note.

An arraignment date has been set for Oct. 10 in Van Nuys Court. Spears does not have to appear, instead her attorney can represent her. The maximum penalty for both is six months and/or $1,000 fine.
